Head Up Display on Toyota Venza Hybrid - Venza 1

  The HUD display is only available in the Toyota Venza Limited edition.


If the HUD has been set up, the display is on whenever the power is ON.


The height of the display and its brightness can be controlled. The height may need adjustment depending on the seat position.

The following screenshots show how this may be adjusted:


Step 1: You need to get to the "Settings" on the large display as shown. When you press "i" (left bottom shown) the "Settings" control will be available. 


The "Settings" gives access to the "Meter Control Switches" These are available on the left side of the steering wheel.



The Left-Right < > control switches the various functions such as 'HUD". The "UP" and "DOWN" allow other selections. The return symbol above the 'Phone" icon returns to the previous.

When "Settings" is chosen this is what you will see on the "Instrument Cluster" as shown.


Step 2: Using the left (<) and right (>) controls you can move on the 4 functionalities shown. There are more than four functionalities. Pressing the right control after the rightmost marked PCTA gets you to the next set of functionalities.


Step 3: When you come to 'HUD" as shown above you can turn on or off the HUD control. If you HOLD down on "OK" in the "Meter-control" on the steering wheel, you get the sub-menu under "HUD" as shown.


Step 4: Now you can work on left (<) and right (>) controls to adjust the brightness of the display and using the top and down arrows you can raise or lower the HUD. While making these adjustments you should be seeing the HUD on the windscreen.

After the adjustment you can get back to "Settings" and back to Info.

The Indian Institute of Science Model: The 6-Dimensional Covid-19 Pandemic Model Predictions

Presently other models are being used, namely Compartment and Network Pandemic models. The IISC model is based on a 6-dimensional population balance equation.

The highlight of this model in words of the authors,

"The proposed model predicts the distribution of infected population across the region, the age of the infected people, the day since infection, and the severity of infection, over a period of time. Moreover, the newly developed model incorporates the immunity, pre-medical history, effective treatment, point-to-point movement of infected population (e.g., by air, train etc.), interactivity (community spread), hygiene and the social distancing of the population."

Politics and economics of vaccine distribution

 There is a lot of politics and economics involved in the distribution of the Covid vaccine. Based on the availability of the vaccine, the future looks dismal for the have-nots. They say it takes 11 years for Africa to reach herd immunity. 

Africans suffering for 11 years is a blot on our collective shared feeling. We really should be ashamed. The quick answer is to remove barriers to producing vaccines based on politics. 

It remains for the future to determine how many lives would have been saved in India if Biden had not put restrictions on vaccine raw materials; if China had given full cooperation to the WHO fact finding team, and all religions for not cooperating with congregations and defying social distancing, and for political rallies (Trump, Modi, etc.), and activism groups for their agenda (BLM, etc.). They did not give a damn for the Covid virus's virulence.

India's Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) comes up with a COVID drug

Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has Okayed the anti-covid drug [ 2-deoxy-D-glucose (2-DG)] developed by DRDO for emergency use.


What does it do?

Reduced hospital stay dependency and lowered oxygen requirement leading to faster recovery.

Who makes them?

"2-DG has been developed by INMAS, a lab of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), in collaboration with Dr Reddy's Laboratories (DRL), Hyderabad."
