3-D animation in Power Point

I have a subscription for Microsoft Office 365 products and presently I have the Version 1806 (Build 10228.20134 Click-to-run).

With this launched, I can see under the Insert | Illustrations group 3D Models. After you insert the model you can highlight it and click the Animations Menu item which brings up the  3-D animation related  'ribbon' displaying the various effects possible.

You can create your own 3D-Model using the Paint 3D program on most Windows 10 computers; or use models created by others in the Gallery which is accessible from Paint 3D.

You can then animate the models and even add regular animation as well.

LEGO is out, Welcome MODIO

The difference between LEGO and MODIO will be something like Black and White TV and Smart Color TV. Why would you want to play with square and rectangular objects when you can run your imagination run amok!

After all it is imagination that counts.

Makerbot (Startasys) is playing both ways.

Autodesk sets its eye on 3D-Printing

What with Google showing an interest in 3D Printing and more importantly Autodesk coming out with two important events, this area is getting heated up :

• Launch of Open Source 3D printing software platform called SPARK
• Introduction of a 3D Printing machine of its own with a reference implementation of SPARK

Autodesk is doing all of this to provide building blocks to product designers, harware manugfacturers and material scientists.

SPARK ) is open and licensable to hardware manufacturers and the Reference Printer design will also be openly available.

Both SPARK and the 3D Printer will be available at the end of this year according to sources:
This should generate enough competition to the early starters in this field like, Dassault Systemes, Stratasys, DDD (3-D), VoxelJet, ExOne and many others (there are very many to name). However many of them have suffered set backs in recent days.
