Sensity to be acquired by Verizon

Verizon to beef up its IoT inventory by adding Sensity. The deal is expected close in the fourth quarter (http://www.fool.com/investing/2016/09/12/verizon-to-acquire-sensity-systems-in-ongoing-iot.aspx).

Sensity with its NetSense, the next generation Light Sensory Network platform transforms street lights by incorporating distributed intelligence, capable of High_Speed, High-Bandwidth communication. Pretty neat as the core hardware is ready and standing to be exploited.

Sensity also safe guards privacy as it addresses privacy issues.

Watch this video:

Sensity has solutions for:
Airports
Cities
Offices
Retail Malls

The Applications include:
Lighting Management
Parking
Location Analytics and
Security

NetSense has two kinds of NetSense Nodes, the Core and the Video Core.  Node EX is an integral part of the NetSense platform. It basically converts the LED fixtures into IP_enabled sensory node.

The Video node is also part of the NetSense platform. The video captures and transmits real-time video data. The video node also has computational power to process HD video and has streaming capabilities.

Google's Project Fi takes off

This has been in the works for long and now it is ready. Are you paying for set bulk rate for data from the likes of AT&T and Verizon? Well it worked but not for those who want to pay for what they use. Project Fi does it for you what AT&T and Verizon do not. It will even reimburse for data not used.

Right now you ask to be invited to join the program but later it is for all who wants it. The free software model starting with Android was a huge success and as Android is a global market leader for smart phones it will be easy to get them on to Project Fi.

The seamless transition from cellular to Wi-Fi is a very attractive feature, a feature that all smart phone manufacturers should emulate.

Filed a complaint to FCC

As I was getting no where getting any kind of response from Verizon regarding OS updates to my Nokia Icon Windows Phone, I resorted to filing a complaint. If I do hear from them I will let you know.

Here is the gist of my complaint:

"Microsoft released an update called Windows Phone 8.1 Developers' Preview which was installed on one of the phones (808-XXX-XXXX). This was just a preview for some special group. Microsoft started rolling out Windows Phone 8.1 and later released further updates to Windows Phone 8.1 broadly known as Lumia Cyan and Lumia Denim which makes the phone operate better with more feature enhancements.

The complaints is that Verizon is neither addressing the issue nor making any announcements to customers.

I would like to know,

1. Is it possible for FCC to see that the Phone Operating System is delinked with the carrier? If not why not?

2. Persuade Verizon to roll out the updates and to make good the lost time by asking Verizon to roll out the latest update.

I can assure you I am not the only one in this situation and there are angry voices all over the Internet.
I respectfully await your response.
"
I am not sure whether this is going to help, my gut feeling is it will not. I think keeping OS away from Carriers is a sure way.

If you bought Nokia Icon from Verizon forget about Windows Phone 8.1 OS

Yes. You are stuck with it as Verizon does not tell (or it does not know) when it can push the Windows Phone 8.1 to your Icon. It was rumored that the 'push' is going to happen at the end of August.

Come on, today is September 19.

May be you should trade it at a AT&T Stall.

Actually, I admit I had a rough conversation going with a Verizon assitant at one of the local stores here. They have one answer, "I don't know when". They were nice and better at anger management.

Verizon sells a phone and does not tell when it is going to push the new OS.
Nokia and Microsoft seems to have no bearing on this 'push'. Nobody takes the responsibility.

Practically you are stranded!

Windows Phone 8.1 is out but where can you get it?

I received in my email a message from Microsoft Store that a Nokia Lumia 635 is available with Windows Phone 8.1.

I tried to find if my Nokia Icon 929 gets the update. At this point Microsoft (chat) could not say anything positive. My carrier VERIZON is also unable to confirm, they think probably towards the end of August. I do not find Windows Phone 8.1 Upgrade on the store.
It is very interesting that the Nokia Icon was touted as the most current device and it is funny that there is no update.

My guess is it is something to do with the contract between Nokia and the carriers, because for Nokia Lumia 635 there appears to be just two vendors, AT&T and T-Mobile.

Verizon says they are not responsible and that Microsoft should be contacted and I drew a blank with Microsoft.

Story continues here:

Finally found this site which promises something:
http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/how-to/wp8/basics/how-do-i-get-windows-phone-8-1

Do not bother to look up this important tip- It's quite useless

This whole business of Phone proliferation has not brought customer satisfaction.
For example, I seem to have bought a Nokia Icon from Verizon that seems not to exist in the NOKIA site. I tried to look up my Model 929 and it does not exist! With Microsoft's ambivalence vis-à-vis NOKIA, I may end up with an unsupported phone.

Get out of your mobile carrier contracts

I cannot but echo the sentiments of John Legere, CEO of T-Mobile when he said,

"Carriers have counted on staggered contract end dates and hefty early termination fees to keep people bound to them forever. But now families can switch to T-Mobile without paying a single red cent to leave them behind".

May be you should take up T-Mobiles offer detailed here:

"T-Mobile offers to pay termination fees"
