Looks like it is. The Aluminum | Air battery appears to be feasible. Actually, it is a fuel cell rather than a traditional battery. Well, it is not rechargeable but do not worry. Just pull out the Aluminum electrode and replace it with a fresh electrode. This is just the kind of device needed for a country like India which does not have significant lithum resources. The nice thing is, these batteries can be produced 100% indigenously in India.
The Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) is in colloboration with Israel for the development of these batteries and IOC (https://iocl.com/aboutus/profile.aspx) is a serious company.
Mahindra is also intested. May be the auto-rickshaws will run on these. I pray this happens, the low grade gas these run are responsible for most respiratory ailments.
Call it 'Vaccine Diplomacy' or any other name. It is undeniably the moment when you need to step forward to help. India is just doing it. Over the years, Indian pharmaceutical industries have built a solid foundation to excel in the production of drugs, vaccines, etc. Probably this is the moment it makes a world impact.
Nepal, Bangladesh, Brazil, Morocco, Myanmar, Seychelles, Mauritius, Bhutan, Mongolia, Maldives, Oman, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan have already received or in the process of receiving the COVID-19 vaccines, on is a renamed version of AstraZeneca and the other an Indian produced vaccine.
Partnering with WHO and UNICEF training ("The key topics covered were COVID-19 disease and vaccines, conducting COVID-19 vaccination, logistics and cold chain management, safe injection practices and waste management,' ") in administering COVID-19 was also provided for some of these countries.
More recently vaccines will be provided to Saudi Arabia and UAE.
Bharath Biotech has law behind it for emergency use in India. It is the Phase 3's efficacy that is being questioned. The vaccine has been undergoing peer review in journals with three of them already reviewed. The company is kosher as they have developed vaccines for Ebola, HiN1, Chikungunyay, etc.
The first ones to get the vaccine are the front-line workers estimated at 30 million. The second group to follow are people above the age of 50 and those below the age of 50 with co-morbidity. The second group is estimated at 270 million. I am sure the AADHAR project will be of immense use.
"U.S. biopharmaceutical firm Ocugen and Bharat Biotech have signed a binding letter of intent (LOI) to co-develop India’s COVID-19 vaccine candidate Covaxin for the United States market.....
----------
Covaxin offers a vaccine candidate that is different from other options currently available in the U.S. market with potentially broader coverage against multiple protein antigens of the virus,” said Harvey Rubin of the University of Pennsylvania and a member of Ocugen’s Vaccine Scientific Advisory Board."
